Rail Chairs

Prior to the 2021 relaying, we were aware that the railway was laid on chairs of widely varying origin and age. A few of the older London and South Western Railway ones have found their way to the museum. The above is the oldest, from 1881. The colour scheme isn’t authentic. There are also examples from 1904, 1918 and 1920 on display.

We are hoping that Network Rail will save us any interesting ones that they find.
