Important service announcement from GWR
"From Saturday 8 March to Friday 14 March, Network Rail will be undertaking essential track work at Crediton, as well as on the Dartmoor Line to enable the new Okehampton Interchange station. As a result there will be no rail services between Exeter St Davids and both Barnstaple and Okehampton.
Replacement buses are planned between Exeter St Davids & Barnstaple, and Exeter St Davids & Okehampton. These replacement buses will not stop at Yeoford, with separate services planned between Crediton and Yeoford instead."

The Exeter-Okehampton rail service is operated by Great Western Railway, and is marketed as The Dartmoor Line.

It isn't very practical for us to keep publishing information about every potential service interruption. We suggest that it's always a good idea to check for service problems at https://www.gwr.com/check, but especially so when the rail network is under stress, e.g. during strikes, floods, etc.

(Very annoyingly, those nice pocket sized timetables are no longer available in hard copy, but the PDFs are still formatted for this size print format, rather than the A4 sheets that everyone on the planet uses in practice. Come on GWR, sort it out. We're not all 100% digital). The timetable for our line is D2. If you rely on a downloaded timetable, make sure it is up to date. Timetables are revised twice a year, in June and December.

Okehampton Station Cafe
More properly called the Bulleid Buffet (*) after Oliver Bulleid, the Southern Railway's innovative engineer, the station cafe is run by Leanne Knight and her team from The Amazing Brownie Bakers of Lifton. Opening times are as follows:
Monday to Saturday 0800 to 1600 (food served 0900 to 1500)
Sunday 1000 to 1600 (food served 1000 to 1500).

Parking at Okehampton Station
Parking at Okehampton Station only costs £2 per day. The first hour is free, without a ticket, facilitating pick up and drop off, or a not-too-leisurely visit to the Bulleid Buffet. Travellers should make a note of their arrival time; the clock starts ticking when passing the the camera monitoring point at the drive entrance. Numberplate recognition is used.
